Throughout the year École du Samedi offers a variety of events for students and parents. These events are designed to promote community spirit as well as discovering France and its culture with a French “Joie de Vivre”.
“À la Fortune du Pot” is our first annual event. It is a potluck open to all members of the community where you can savor dishes from the entire Francophone world. It is a time for our families to share traditional recipes as well as food with a French-American flavor.
“Fête de fin d’année” is our end of the fall semester celebration. It includes a show presented by our students and the visit of a traditional French winter character: Papa Noël. It is also a time to sample the delicious Bûche de Noel, the French Christmas cake.
“La Chandeleur” is a winter event celebrated at École du Samedi, it is also called the day of the “crêpes”. It is probably one of the favorite days of the year for our students as they have the opportunity to eat crêpes with chocolate and jelly.
“La Kermesse” is our spring celebration event. Students and parents can participate in this spring fair including games, a bouncy castle and of course an outdoor barbecue.
“La remise des diplômes” is our end of the year celebration. It is an opportunity for our students to take to the stage and perform in front of their parents before leaving for the summer
École du Samedi also organizes several “Rencontres du Samedi” or Saturday gatherings during the year. They include presentations by French authors and artists, visits and samplings offered by local French businesses such as Clairthé and even a forum on bilingualism.
