Cultural Immersion

Cultural Immersion page

École du Samedi is more than a Saturday in Paris. It is an immersion in the French speaking world.

Inside the Classroom

Our community of teachers and families truly reflects the diversity of Francophonie in the 21st century. The Francophone culture is introduced in the classroom through projects, stories and activities. Teachers share their native culture with their students and encourage children to do the same with their classmates.

Outside the Classroom

Extending the French experience beyond the classroom is integral to the immersion method. Throughout the year we organize events celebrating our cultural diversity and expanding children’s horizons. Events include:

  • Community Potluck Pique-Niques
  • Traditional celebrations: Chandeleur (crêpes)
  • Bilingual forum

École du Samedi is not just a school that teaches French; it is a unique learning experience that teaches French the French way. Our curriculum is structured to mirror that of true French teachings.

  • In the native learning track, teachers follow the French curriculum through the use of textbooks approved by the French Ministère de l’éducation.
  • For students beginning in our non-native learning track, we recognize that French is not their first language. Learning a second language requires a different teaching method which is supported with the use of French textbooks geared toward teaching French as a foreign language.
