Covid Policy Updates

 Messages to the Community
May 3, 2022

We need to remain cautious and vigilant to ensure everyone’s safety and to help our students to see out the remainder of this academic year with as little disruption.

Consequently, we remind all students and parents that we strongly recommend that everyone on campus wears a mask whenever they are inside school or in close proximity to each other for a prolonged time.

March 17, 2022

Dear Parents and Students,

I’m sure you will have seen that the CDC has now changed the way in which it is measuring COVID risk by county, and what that means for wearing masks.  The new COVID measurement guidelines are detailed here. It now measures not just local COVID transmission rates but also the number of local hospital COVID admissions and their capacity - to determine whether a county has a LOW, MEDIUM or HIGH COVID-19 Community Level.

Fulton County is currently assessed as having a LOW COVID-19 Community Level.

While this is the case, the Ecole du Samedi masks policy will reflect the AIS policy: "masks are optional but welcome’’ and as of Saturday, March 19, Ecole du Samedi will become "Mask Optional".

I just want to emphasize that we fully support and respect everyone's decision to keep wearing a mask - for all or some of the time while in school.

We will continue to ask everyone to carefully follow our school community pledge

DO NOT come into school and DO get tested if you have any COVID symptoms.
That is our most important mitigation tool.

We will also maintain the enhanced cleaning and other measures.

It is important to understand that if the COVID-19 Community Level for Fulton changes to HIGH, we will return to wearing masks inside. We’ll inform you if there are any changes to the masks policy.

A full recording of the press briefing during which the CDC announced the changes is here.

Policies and Protocol

New CDC quarantine and isolation guidelines as published by AIS in January.

You can find the new CDC quarantine and isolation guidelines here.
AIS shared these guidelines with us and we will follow them in the spring.
Note: these are for those who test positive and exposed persons, both vaccinated and unvaccinated. These are summarized below:

If you test positive for Covid-19 (Isolate)

Everyone, regardless of vaccination status.
- Stay home for 5 days.
- If you have no symptoms or your symptoms are sufficiently resolved after 5 days (i.e. you can answer NO to all questions on our Wellness form), you can leave your house and return to campus on day 6.
- Continue to wear a mask around others, even outdoors.
- If you have a fever, continue to stay home until your fever resolves.
If you were exposed as a close contact to someone with Covid-19 (Quarantine)
If you have been boosted OR completed the primary series of Pfizer or Moderna vaccine within the last 6 months OR completed the primary series of J&J vaccine within the last 2 months - you do not need to be quarantined.
You should however:
- Continue wearing masks diligently.
- We recommend you test on day 5, if possible, or at the next available opportunity at school.
- If you develop symptoms, get a test, follow the CDC guidance and stay home.
However, if you:
Completed the primary series of Pfizer or Moderna vaccine over 6 months ago and are not boosted OR completed the primary series of J&J over 2 months ago and are not boosted OR are unvaccinated you must quarantine for 5 days minimum.
- Stay home for 5 days. After that, continue to wear a mask around others.
- Anyone who is not fully vaccinated must test on day 5 and, if the test is negative, may return to school on Day 6.
- If you develop symptoms, get a test, follow the CDC guidance and stay home.

Protocol updates

Communication with parents

We would only contact you directly if your child had been in close proximity (within 6’ for more than 15 minutes) of someone who had developed symptoms while on campus.

Parents communication with school

During Substantial and Moderate mitigation when a positive result, or assumed positive result is obtained, all persons who have been within close contact with the individual 48 hours prior to the day symptoms appeared, will be notified and will be required to self-quarantine in accordance with the new CDC protocol.

In order to achieve to implement this measure we ask parents to notify us right away in the event their child is in this situation.

Parents must sign the Community Pledge document to be allowed on campus.

Classroom safety precaution update

An additional safety precaution you may not be aware of is our placement of air purifiers in each office, classroom, and conference room at AIS. The air purifiers have Dual Air Intakes and two filters. The Merv-13 Filters achieve 99.9% particle removal. The purifier cleans a room up to 1,000 sq ft in one hour, 500 sq ft in 30 minutes, 250 sq ft in 15 minutes (CADR 250)

Classroom Protocols

● Classes will be restricted to designated areas and will not interact with students and teachers from the other classes.

● Ecole du Samedi will follow the protocols set in place by AIS in each classroom and activities will be planned to maximize social distance between individuals at all times
